Kicking Horse kicks its mountain biking game up a notch
Trail maintenance and new trail construction will commence as soon as the upper mountain snow melts, reflecting the resort's commitment to providing top-notch biking opportunities. The renowned trail-building team at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will be responsible for the strategic development of these projects, aimed at diversifying the available trails and complementing the existing network.
One of the notable additions is the completion of the final section of 'As The Crowe Flies,' which will connect this trail to the entire length of Crystal Bowl. This expansion will introduce another 550 meters of machine-built flow to the existing 760 meters, which opened last summer. The completion of this section is scheduled for July 2023.
To improve trail maintenance, the resort has invested in a tracked bucket, enabling more efficient dirt relocation to areas that require attention. This addition will contribute to the overall upkeep of existing trails, ensuring a high-quality riding experience for visitors.
Furthermore, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort has secured a dedicated excavator and operator for the entire summer. This team will focus on the final phase of 'Swamp Donkey,' extending both features and the trail by 1.5 kilometers down to the lower 'Superberm.' The project, initiated last summer, is expected to reach completion in September 2023.
To provide a seamless route for riders from the top to the lower mountain trails, the resort has engaged an MTB trail contractor. Their task is to design and construct a new mid-mountain Blue trail, offering the easiest descent option. This trail is scheduled for completion in September 2024, creating an exciting addition for riders of all skill levels.
While experienced riders eagerly anticipate the projects to be completed this summer, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is also focusing on enhancing the intermediate riding experience. This development is expected to be finalized by late summer 2024, providing a well-rounded biking adventure for visitors.
